How to get involved We’re always interested finding new connections, and we’d love to hear from you

PiCL offers a process that uses creativity as a vehicle to get you from where you are to where you want to be. Brokering relationships that work is at the heart of what we do, so we’re always open and positive. It’s not one size fits all, and what can happen will depend on what you want to explore. Every programme is different but you will some examples of the things we have done on this site.

We’re always interested in making new relationships and finding new connections, and we’d love to hear from you if you think we could do something together.

We are exploring particular themes;

• Building Schools for the Future – we’re supporting a group of schools in Stoke and Staffordshire in using creative approaches to make sure they really do ‘transform education’ for their communities.

• Dramatic Enquiry – a powerful tool for developing communication, learning and thinking skills, which blends Philosophy for Children and drama techniques, and has grown out of the experience of a network of Creative Partnerships schools in Stoke. PiCL now supports the national Dramatic Enquiry Network.

• The Staffordshire Hoard – how can we help schools to respond creatively to the opportunities that exist all around us to enliven the curriculum, and to explore new teaching and learning techniques. Alongside Stoke on Trent Children’s Services and Museums and Libraries, we’re running a programme to do just that, in response to the Staffordshire Hoard.

• Early years – we are an Earlyarts Pathfinder and run professional development days for early years practitioners.

• Cultural collaboration – we are supporting arts and cultural organisations to get to know each other better and to work together where we can to get the best value for the children and young people of the area.

• Professional development – we organise innovative opportunities for teachers, artists and others who work with young people to develop their practice. See our website for more details of current programmes, e.g. Creative Exchange and Connect Forward.

And there are other themes we’re interested in exploring;

• Family learning – how creativity might influence the development of strong, resilient families…

• Extended services in schools – how can we support schools to find creative solutions to the challenge of providing out of hours provision that supports their strategic approach…

• Bespoke support for schools who want to ‘innovate and inspire’ – how to make the most of the freedom to look at what they teach and how they teach it, setting the tone for the learning their students deserve…

• Civic engagement programmes – how working creatively can open up channels for young people to take the lead in their communities…

• Addressing issues of health, wellbeing and worklessness, – we know that young people are more motivated and engaged to take action when they are supported to own the choices they make about their futures, so how can we impact on issues like these…

• Organisational change for businesses – supporting organisations to find creative ways of achieving their goals and exploring their vision and values…

PiCL is available for consultancy, for programme development and management, for bespoke advice and support, for professional development programmes. Our services can last as long as you like – anything from one day to a ten week programme to a longer relationship, depending on what you’d like to achieve and the available resources.

If you are interested in these themes, or have other ideas you’d like to explore and want to talk about how we could become your partner in creative learning, here’s how you get in touch:
