PROJECT: PRODUCTION PROCESSES: EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS

Clarice Cliff Primary School and Forest Park Primary School

What is creativity?
What does creativity look like, feel like, sound like, taste like and smell like to be creative?
What does creativity do for us, and what does it do for our society?
Are there other questions that we could or should be asking about creativity?  If so what are they?

After asking these big open, far reaching questions Clarice Cliff and Forest Park embarked on a multi stranded activity with a central concept of ‘The production process’ – the heart of writing scripts, film, theatre, creating photography and fine art exhibitions.

Working with two teams of creative practitioners: Eleanor Babb (photographer) and artists from the Airspace gallery.  Rotten Park Road and Junction 15 comprised the second team.  They began with walks and talks, the pupils went on explorative journeys, that were ‘novel’ yet still everyday experiences; a walk in the countryside and a train journey.  The pupils collected their observations through writing, drawing and photography.  These initial experiences helped seed the pupil led development, culminating in an exhibtion at Airspace Gallery in Hanley of the finished work.

Through these activities the schools were successful in their aim to embed speaking, listening and writing skills across all activities in the curriculum.
