PROJECT: CREATIVE ASSESSMENT - LONGTON HIGH SCHOOL
Starting at an INSET day, teaching staff, working with Mathilda Joubert, were encouraged to identify where in the year 7 and 8 curriculum they were already creative so they could move their practice on from teaching creatively to teaching for creativity.
A student consultative body worked with Gerard Davies to develop a range of assessment models, which would then be presented to a "Dragons Den', the best aspects were collected and Mathilda constructed a final model.
This robust assessment framework has been developed surrounding the competencies described in Personal Learning and Thinking Skills as part of the national curriculum. Two more creative consultants were brought on board - Dave Howard and Stewart Derry - the staff were able to 'bid' for their time to support lessons and planning, through this trialling in class, the teaching staff were able to develop more opportunities in class to help students develop their creative skills more deeply. The framework is a tool that each student can now use for themselves to enable reflective learning and self-evaluation.
